| Our 2011 4th Annual Plein Air Painting Competition is graciously sponsored this year by the Sam & Diane Stewart Foundation. We are expecting about 100 artists from Utah and the West! The artists compete painting in oil, watercolor, acrylic and pastels. Our competition continues to grow and is considered by a majority of our participating artists as the 'Best Plein Air Competition!' in Utah. We have return rate of about 90% of our artists from the previous years, so plan on joining us this year!
2011 SPRING CITY ARTS PLEIN AIR COMPETITION - September 7th-10th, 2011
A Plein Air painting event is scheduled for Historic Spring City, Utah. Spring City is located in Sanpete County, a scenic, pastoral rural landscape. This county is dotted with sheep, cattle, horse and agricultural farms as well as historic cities, and is known for its beautiful countryside of farmlands, majestic mountains and wonderful blue skies. Additionally, Spring City is a National Historic District, where dozens of 1800’s Pioneer homes and buildings are located in a rural city setting.
Artists may paint anywhere in Sanpete County; its cities, farms, mountains and streams and of course Spring City. Possible scenes include historic streets and structures, pastoral vistas, mountain and stream scenes, landscapes and agricultural subjects. Professional artists may turn in up to five completed, framed and ready-to-be-hung artworks. All traditional plein air painting mediums are acceptable, but work must be done “en plein air” without the assistance of photography.
Entry Fees: $10 for each surface pre-registered before September 1, 2011.
$20 entry fee for each surface registered at the competition.
Pre-registration by mail: All pre-paid, pre-registration forms are due before September 1, 2011.
Do not send in your surfaces, they will be stamped in Spring City upon your check-in during the registration periods.

Wednesday through Friday: from 8 am - 9 am and 4 pm - 6 pm
at the Spring City Arts Gallery, 79 South Main Street
Dates of Competition: Wednesday, September 7th, 6 am - Friday, September 9th, 6 pm
